What is NDIS in-home support?

In-home support is help from a qualified support worker in the place you already live – your own house, unit or family home. Under the NDIS it sits in your Core budget as Assistance with Daily Life (sometimes written as Assistance with Daily Living), and it is one of the most flexible supports in a plan.

It is different from Supported Independent Living: SIL is 24/7 rostered support, usually in a shared home. In-home support is visit-based, an hour each morning, a few afternoons a week, or an evening routine, and scales up or down as your needs change.

Many Gold Coast participants combine in-home support with community accesscommunity nursing and respite stays for family carers all delivered by the same Kuremara team.

NDIS in-home support Gold Coast – FAQs

What does "Assistance with Daily Life" cover in my NDIS plan?

It is the Core budget category that funds a support worker to help with personal care, meals, household tasks, medication and daily routines in your home. It also funds SIL and short-term accommodation, so the same budget can be used flexibly across those supports.

How many hours of in-home support can I get?

It depends on your Core budget and how you choose to use it. Kuremara can map your funding to a weekly schedule, for example, two mornings a week or a daily hour – and adjust it as your needs change. There is no minimum weekly commitment.

Can I choose my support worker?

Yes. Tell us your preferences: gender, language, culture, interests, experience with your disability and we match accordingly. You meet your worker before they start, and you can ask for a change at any time.

Do you provide in-home support on weekends and evenings on the Gold Coast?

Yes. We roster morning, daytime, evening, weekend and public-holiday visits, and overnight support at home where it is funded. Rates follow the NDIS Pricing Arrangements for each time band.

Can you help with complex medical needs at home?

Yes. Kuremara specialises in supporting participants with medical and mental health needs. High-intensity supports such as PEG feeding, catheter care, and complex medication are delivered by trained workers under the oversight of our community nurses, with 24/7 telehealth doctors available through Priority Health Group.

Is in-home support the same as home care for older people?

The tasks are similar, but the funding is different. NDIS in-home support is for participants under 65 with a disability and is funded through your NDIS plan. Aged-care home care is funded through My Aged Care. Kuremara delivers the NDIS-funded service.

What if I need more support later?

We increase hours within your budget, add nursing or overnight support, arrange respite stays for carers, and if 24/7 support becomes the right option help you move into Supported Independent Living on the Gold Coast without changing providers.

How quickly can in-home support start?

Typically within one to two weeks of your enquiry: a home visit and care plan first, then a meet-and-greet, then your first shift. Urgent hospital-discharge requests are prioritised.
